Today, during a livestream from the Square Enix HQ in Los Angeles, the publisher showcased some new gameplay in English of Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

The game was played on PS4 by Assistant Producer Hikari Kubota, with the commentary from the series creator Yuji Horii and Game Director Takeshi Uchikawa.

We get to see a boss battle against a giant squid called “Tentacular” and another good look at the English localization and voice acting, which will be a completely new feature for North America and Europe.

Dragon Quest XI launches in North America and Europe on PS4 and PC on September 4th, and can already be pre-ordered on Amazon. The Nintendo Switch version is coming, but at the moment we have no clear idea on when it will be released or even exactly what it will look like. All we know is that it’s going to take a while.

If you want to see more about the game, you can enjoy the brand new trailer revealed during the Square Enix E3 2018 showcase and more gameplay from the same show. You can also hear more from Producer Hokuto Okamoto-san in our recent interview.
