Our WeebCast is a weekly podcast dedicated to all thing Japanese, and today you can listen to its sixth episode, focusing on the renaissance of Japanese games, many of which rose to critical and fan acclaim over the past few years after a period of semi-limbo.

This discussion was inspired by Ebb and Flow – Conversations on the recent momentum of Japanese games, a fantastic documentary by Archipel that you should really watch if you haven’t yet. After watching it our weeb hosts (yours truly and Staff Writer Emily Hobbs) felt the need to discuss the topic in the podcast because it’s a really interesting one.

We talk about our favorite Japanese titled, and why they were successful among fans of Japanese games, and even many that used to scoff at your usual JRPGs.

On top of that, we also chat on the latest Japanese game news, anime, and a few tidbits about Japanese geek culture in general.

This podcast embodies one of the pillars of DualShockers’ philosophy, as our site has always been built on the concept embracing our passions, which is why we have been striving to create a safe haven where gamers can be weeb as much as they want, and be absolutely proud of it.

In case you missed it, you can also listen to the previous episode, focusing on the visual novel genre.

Please do keep in mind that this podcast is still in an experimental phase. Constructive criticism and suggestions are absolutely welcome and encouraged, so please leave them in the comments below. You can also let us know which themes you’d like to see covered in upcoming episodes.

Now, without further ado, you can listen to the DualShockers’ Weebcast below, either on YouTube or Soundcloud. You can also listen on iTunes if you so wish.
