Monster Hunter World‘s glorious cavalcade is continuing, as the NPD just revealed that the game (predictably) was at the top of its charts for the American market.
- Monster Hunter World
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Call of Duty: WWII
- PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds
- Grand Theft Auto V
- NBA 2K18
- Super Mario Odyssey
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Mario Kart 8
- Madden NFL 18
- Star Wars: Battlefront II
- Assassin’s Creed Origins
- EA Sports UFC 3
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege
- FIFA 18
- Dragon Ball Xenoverse
- The Sims 4
- Splatoon 2
- Dissidia Final Fantasy NT
- Need for Speed Payback
As usual, we should keep in mind that sales for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Star Wars: Battlefront II, FIFA 18, The Sims 4, and Need for Speed: Payback don’t include PC sales on Origin and Steam, which means that PUBG achieved its remarkable fourth place with Xbox One sales alone.
Incidentally, Monster Hunter World is also at the top of the individual chart for Xbox One, beating PUBG itself, and meaning that Capcom’s game did extremely well on Microsoft’s console, and not just on PS4 as many expected.
Quite notable is the fact that for the first time in forever we see two Japanese-made games at the top of the NPD chart, with the excellent Dragon Ball FighterZ following the Monster Hunter behemoth. Incidentally Monster Hunter World achieved the all-time record for launch month sales in the United States among all games of the franchise.
On the hardware side, the Nintendo Switch is the console that sold the most units, while the PS4 family made the most money. That being said, the gap in dollar sales between PS4, Switch, and Xbox One was only 3%, with all three consoles showing excellent performance across the board.
It’s worth mentioning that Monster Hunter World has now sold over six million units worldwide and that it’s dominating in Japan as well, where according to Famitsu, it sold over two million units in the first three days including both retail and digital marketplaces.
