Epic Games ran into an easily-avoidable problem last week when the “14 Days of Fortnite” event was cut short—at the time, there was no explicit end date, and the event fell short of a proper fortnight. In an attempt to make good on all the original promises for the event and its rewards, “14 Days of Fortnite” is back starting today.
This return is being called an “extension” of the event, and Epic promises the return of in-game challenges that players may have been unable to complete during the last go of the event. Additionally, Epic is also bringing back “some of the most popular Limited Time Modes that were available during the event.”
Previously, Epic’s apology consisted of the Equalizer Glider as a reward for people who completed a challenge during the original event, though through this “extension” players can earn any reward they want now that the challenges are reopened. Unfortunately, as Epic clarified a couple of days ago when the event was first confirmed to return, progress on partially-completed challenges will be reset.
Older limited-time modes also return for this event; as of now, the modes include Food Fight and Slide, the latter being a game mode where everyone has ice blocks as feet and can use infinite grapplers. These replace the previous LTMs, which included Team Rumble and Unvaulted Duos.
Fortnite celebrated the New Year with an in-game event, but expect much more to come for the battle royale game, which is playable on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC, Mac, and mobile platforms. The “14 Days of Fortnite” event will last from now until January 15, which I guess makes this more like 7 days of Fortnite.
